The Obedience of Abraham

Today, as we dive into the treasures that lie within the old testament, we admire and are inspired by Abraham's faith and trust in the Lord.
Many of us can recall the test of faith God gave Abraham when He told Abraham to sacrifice Issac - the child that God promised Abraham in his old age. However, something important we might have missed while reading is how well Abraham knew his God.
Within the greatest test of faith of his life, Abraham did not once doubt the the Lord's promises. As it is written, "He said to his servants, 'stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and WE will come back to you.'" Genesis 22:5 .
That 'we' is easy to gloss over, but once you focus on it, the word wont stop jumping off the page.
To be honest, the first few times I read this passage, I never understood the beauty and power behind a simple two-letter word.
We. Abraham said WE will come back before he knew God would spare Issac. Abraham was confident in saying they will BOTH return because of the amount of knowledge, trust, and faith he had in the Lord and His promises. He trusted that the promises of the God he serves never fail, but was still prepared to meet God's test with obedience.
It is my prayer today that we all have this deep understanding and communion with God. All of God's children are tested and experience difficulty. The only way to overcome it is to lend your ear to the Spirit of the Lord.
Lord, allow us to learn from and mirror the confidence and rest Abraham had in You.
